August is here, !
Summer seems to get into high gear in August. It definitely gets hotter and if you haven't taken a vacay yet, now is generally the time to get that done, before school and
the fall come rolling in. Truth is, there are lots of great Events right here in our Town to enjoy as well as excellent places to visit if you decide to have a staycation (check out our new Parks and Recreation map).

The Paumanauke Pow-Wow is THIS first weekend of August, so if
you want to see and share in the experience of Native American life and traditions on Long Island head over to Town Hall in Lindenhurst this Saturday and Sunday, August 4 & 5. There is a Special Performance of Swan Lake at the Tanner Park Bandshell this August, so those of us who enjoy that should definitely go and enjoy. You can expose the kids to the kind of performance they would only get to see on a big stage in the city. Tanner Park Bandshell - August 25
The Summer Beach Blast is always tons of Fun and is definitely a fun family affair and a new Town tradition at this point. Tug of war, beach games, fireworks and lots of fun in the sun. We won't miss it! Overlook Beach - August 18

The Town and a few other organizations have movies you can go see with the Family and some of the selections are pretty recent and always Family Friendly. Check out all the Movies in August here.

You MUST go check out (and support) our local Farmer's Markets! They are so diverse and the veggies and foodstuff from them are absolutely delicious, fresh and so edifying! We vote for the kind of world we want to live in EVERY day, my fellow citizens! Let's say YES to Local, Fresh foods.
I am proud to say that Networking and Community building happens all throughout the month in our Town, but especially in the last week of the month there are a lot of
Chamber, Association and Local Business Networking events. Real Entrepreneurs know: your Network equals your Net Worth.
The National Night Out is a community event organized to stand up against violence and crime in our neighborhoods. While we see that much of the violent crime seems to be taking a downturn, we all know that the Opium-related drug epidemic is on the rise. It would be
